Wii/Flash Memory

Jump to: navigation, search

The Wii has 512MiBi of Flash memory. It is used to store the Wii bios, the Wii Channels and the wii save files. Since nobody has bothered dumping it, we know nothing about the file system format of the memory.

[edit] Dumping

Since it is ordinary flash memory, dumping should be easy. Just connect a Flash-USB Controller (like Chipsbank), wire it to the flash memory, and connect it to your USB port. Then it should appear as a regular device. Dumping under Linux/Unix with dd. If the Filesystem is a non propertiary one, it also could be mounted directly. ATTENTION: Create 4-5 dumps and extract the location your Wii-ID is before publishing, because of Nintendo can surely trace your Wii with the ID.

(Be careful not crashing your Wii, while modding)
