Talk:Wii ethernet adapter
From WiiLi
domdomc Does WiiLi not use the discussion pages ?[ first page i tryed to load talk on .] w/e I am not going to just randomly edit this page. I am not 100% but when looking for the NT-USB20, I found very similar - perhaps rebranded products at tigerdirect[just checked the amazon link for kinemax, and amazon ships a tigerdirect product...], i havent looked at newegg yet. sabrent and cablestogo seem to be selling a product that at least resembles it, and the following link even refers to it as an NT-USB20
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2703732&CatId=589
Manufactured by: Sabrent Mfg Part No: NT-USB20 UPC No: 857161001281 [ They actually list some interesting specs, re: conversion of WoL to USB wakeup signal. etc] they also have a simlar [ identical ? ] product image as the kinemax official site.
, hopefully that linked correctly.
- TigerDirect sells mostly refurbished products, so the internals of the product could be different (such as chips used). I would not buy from TigerDirect unless it is known that it is a *new* product or you go to a local TigerDirect store and buy it there (such as the one in Raleigh, NC on US-1/Capital Boulevard) OC 01:10, 20 January 2007 (EST)
Also, does the official adaptor not report usb vendor and product ids to a pc ? has anyone been able to use that on a pc to pass traffic ?
- I will most likely buy one as soon as I am paid. OC 01:10, 20 January 2007 (EST)
Lastly, how valid would the concern over nintendo preventing third party adaptors be ? It was brought up on the newegg page for the NTusb20, and refuted. but it certainly would be possible for the official usb adaptor to behave in a not generic usb to ethernet way, and for nintendo to detect third party hardware. I doubt nintendo would actually try this, as i doubt it would hurt their wallet too much [ and getting more ppl to buy vc games , or at least able too should be in their interest. which is the only reason they have their own adaptor in the first place, i doubt they expect a profit from it.]
Sorry for the horrible typing/spelling/thinking? it's late, and i am on a very slow pc, with a very blackandwhite monitor. PidGin128 00:27, 20 January 2007 (EST)
[edit] Adaptor not working => Error code 51421? Can anybody confirm?
Hi there, I just tested an old USB2LAN adaptor I used to have lying around. In fact it is one of those "KH-886 USB NIC" (same as "Davicom dm9601" according to http://alcopop.org/unix/linux/).
After connecting it to wire and Wii, the red light (actually the only LED) lights up. However, I do get the Error 51421 doing the connection test. Can anybody confirm, this error means that there was no driver found for the adaptor? - 91.66.246.60 09:46, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
