NOTE: This might be different based on the country where you live, however distributing is ALWAYS illegal
AFAIK is in The Netherlands private copying and downloading for private usage legal. (because we pay for those rights everytime we buy a blank CD/DVD etc.)(Yes, you legally copy an illegally obtained original, if you do it yourself, how weird ;))
USA has fair use policy. (which is something completely different.)

not to mention that from dutch point of view not the downloader is breaching copyright, but the uploader because he is the one who copied it. Alexanderpas 19:20, 19 December 2006 (EST)
