IT IS WAAAAAAY lower than 7 bucks. I can get wiikeys (probobly clones though) from volume rate [1]

for about 2.50. Thats just what they are selling it for. There is still a huge markup and not to mention shipping and other costs. I use their chips and they work fine. I have been using their chips forever actually. Also dealextreme (their american sister site) used to sell wiikeys for 15 bucks for a two pack INCLUDING SHIPPING! [2]. Thats even with the gold plated solder pads.

So cmon the base manafacutring cost must be like 25 cents. Of course thats without paaying a development team and all that.
