OpenPIE
From WiiLi
OpenPIE is intended to be a multi-platform, open source programmable input emulator for the Wii Remote, Nunchuck, and possibly other similar devices. Some form of compatibility with GlovePIE scripts is intended, though the final form of that compatibility has not yet been determined.
Currently, the developers are short on time, and are requesting additional programmers to kick in to move the project forward. See this thread for details and to offer assistance.
[edit] History
On May 27, 2007, Wiili.org user SwedishFrog posted about the need for an alternative to GlovePIE, now stalled in development. Interest was peaked and the thread quickly grew until it was given it's own forum under the preliminary name OpenPIE, which stands for Open Programmable Input Emulator. It is wrapped around WiiremoteJ to create a scriptable driver with all the functionality (and more) of GlovePIE.
The open nature of the program would help prevent stagnation, allow for correction of stability issues even if the inital developers lost interest, allow for new features and new controllers to be added by others, prevent arbitrary restrictions that were present in GlovePIE, and generally be compatible with the Wiili mission.
The cross-platform nature of the program might eventually allow it to be implemented on Wiili, a linux environment for the Nintendo Wii, allowing for scriptable control of the Wii Remote and other accessories on the system.
