| i sincerely doubt that they will do that. It will probably have one of those stickers on the back that says something like "This device will not give off interference and must accept all interference even that which may harm it." You know that sticker that basically says a system is screwed. |

My take on the matter is this;
Linux is not emulators. If people wind up acquiring and using emulators with WiiLi, well, that's up to them. However, Nintendo are using the Wii's inherent ability to play emulated games as one of it's selling points... and as a revenue stream. They won't want anything that could eat into their profits, legal or not, and DO have the ability to put a stop to it if they see fit. They don't need to resort to legal matters; technical ones will suffice. And they can legally stop you from running software product X on the Wii.
WiiLi should be safe as long as it avoids the following;
* Don't give emulation as one of it's selling points. People interested in emulating will figure it out anyway, but if it's being directly advertised that way, it'll draw attention.
* Don't include emulators on the disc. Again, I know emulators are themselves legal, but it will be seen to encourage people to acquire games illegitimately rather than get them through Nintendo.
* Don't link directly to methods to add emulation to WiiLi. What advice gets given out on the forums is something else entirely of course, and if people want to discuss Linux console emulators, well, that's probably fine. |

If this project is a success it'll be the only reason I'll get a Wii... So in a way Nintendo would be making profit from this |

Considering the hardware is sold at a near loss you'll have to buy at least one game and additional accessories for Nintendo to profit. Myself, since the component cable isn't included and it's through a propreitary dongle I need to purchase at least that. Of course I'll need the class controller too for those older games. _________________ http://www.eviltechmonkey.com |

*Near* loss. That means "not a loss", or as we in the know refer to it, a "profit". Nintendo aren't playing the "loss leader" game with MS and Sony... they're a bit more intelligent than that.
But going back to train's statement; now don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for the Wii to suceed, but if the only reason you're getting a Wii is to run Linux on it... why not just get a PC? Besides, as awesome as WiiLi sounds in concept, Wii has a lot going for it besides. |

You dont need to buy a classic controller, a gamecube controller will play all of the virtual console games. |
