DSLinux allows you to connect to Wifi but generally it needs to be close to the source of the internet for some reason
(it sends some discover code)

So I was thinking the Wii could resend the signal to my DS so I didn't have to walk across the house to the router every time I wanted to use its wifi apps.

Possibly could. People have setup there old computers (like P1 200mhz, 32mb ram, etc) on linux and turned them into routers, so I think it would be possible to setup WiiLi to act as an access point to the DS or just route the connection to it.
