Is it worth it to use the Wiimote as a mouse, but dont actually have a Wii?
Also can someone show me a step by step way to make the Wiimote mouse thing. |

there are so many other uses for a wiimote on a pc besides as an replacement for the mouse cursor....
but back to your question, unless you have a very steady hand you will need big icons, buttons and other clickable stuff cause there for most people it is quite hard to position the cursor on the screen precisely
as for learning how to make a mouse script, there are different
approaches, and often the purpose will define which approach you take.
among the variables involved are:
number of IR sources you plan on using
how smooth vs. how lagless you want the movement to be
whether the app you will be using handles mouse input in absolute or relative mode
whether the wiimote will be tilted during the operation or remain leveld
just to mention a few _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!

some people use it to DJ, some use it as a gamming controller, some make music with it, some use it to control robots and R/C stuff, there are infinite possibilities
you can search the forums, and a few scripts are in the wiki as well, and I think the wiki might have some links to other sites with GlovePIE scripts _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!

So it is fine to just use the Wiimote as a mouse?
My mouse is broken.....It says something about no drivers if you know how to fix it.
And will making it a mouse, make it useless with a Wii?
Sorry I'm asking you so many questions. |

OK your posts are confusing me now.
1) No. It will not destroy the Wiimote. You connect the Wiimote to the computer via Bluetooth. If you don't have Bluetooth built into your computer, you need to go buy a Bluetooth USB adapter.
2) Your mouse is most likely not working because you may have USB 1 ports, which are not fast enough for your new mouse. I have posted that in your other thread. Please post about it in there and not here.
3) To use your Wiimote with your PC, you need to download GlovePIE and figure out how to use it. To connect your Wiimote to your computer, have your Bluetooth drivers search for the Wiimote as you hold down the red button behind the battery cover. When it connects put your script in GlovePIE and choose "Run" and it will do whatever.
4) In order to use the Wiimote as a synced mouse, you must have a sensor bar for the Wii to use with your monitor. You could though just use a script that enables the mouse to move based on the turning of the Wiimote (not pointing and clicking... turning). Other uses consist of using it as a controller for emulators, navigating websites, etc. _________________ I like cream soda...

OK so
For answer 4: Will I be able to click if I only use a script?
My computer came with some Bluethooth things
There's the
Bluetooth Information Exchanger
Wireless File Transfer
Bluetooth settings
and
Remote Camera.
When I run the programs with the word Bluetooth in them,
It tries to install a Bluetooth driver then midway it tells me to put my Bluetooth device.
So does that mean I have to buy a Bluetooth adapter, because I am saving for a PS3. |
