First of all, let me introduce myself. I am a student of computer science at a german university and I really enjoy playing with WiiremoteJ. Thanks for the huge amount of work you put into it!

I disagree. Opening the source to the public (e.g. via sourceforge) does not mean you lose control over the project, as you can decide who has commit access and who has not.
Regarding the huge amount of forks, I must admit that there is a slight possibility. But then again, that is something all the major os projects fear and which does not happen that often. To be honest, except the JBoss/Geronimo fork some years ago, nothing comes to my mind now.

Then again, having the possibility to read the source would really help me with my project. I could see how your API works and thus would be able to use it better. It would enhance my learning experience and that would result in better projects based on your library.

So, please, give it another thought. Please?

Best regards, Volker

Yeah I am using WiiRemoteJ in a Virtual Reality project and it's a great helpful ! Please, free your code to a platform (i.e. sourceforge). Your work is very useful in visualization and interactions.

Hi there!
I'm also disappointed that WiiremoteJ isn't open source. I'm from an german university, too. The last month I've worked on a gesture recognition library for the wiimote. WiiremoteJ should have been useful, but I won't use any closed library. So I decided to develop my own code for communicating with the wiimote in java. For all you developers around: my library is open source and aviable via wiigee dot sourceforge dot net (can't post the right adress, damn spam protection). It's still very beta-like and not well documentated, but this will change as soon as possible (i expect i've time for this during christmas). Till then feel free to play around with the lib and message me if you've something that could be better (except documentation, i know this Wink). Thank you for your feedback.

Regards
BePo
