| But thats really not enough for work like this. just ir positioning thats sent to the wii as coordinates or whatever, and then fully proccessed in the wii itself. The firmware is also loaded through this, but again i say that it is not that powerful. it probably just about maxes out when its being used for both ir and running the firmware. |

why couldnt you just set up a lan and have both computers running the same program off of the same hard drive that could work eventually.
If not you could find an amperage booster tear apart a cheap bluetooth (or a few) sensor and then go to work on it Im sure there's some way to extend the range. |

ok im very interested in this!
lets see...
wii bluetooth - 10 Meters
bluetooth dongle - normally 100 meters...
im gonna check in the next few days if i get an external antenna on my dongle if i get more range on wiimote (wich i have lots of doubts)
after bluetooth is settled we get to the laser detect.
can the wii detect a blinking IR led? if yes can it detect a sequence of blinks?
if this 2 problems are solved maybe 4 gadgets, for the bluetooth (like a micrcontroller with BT) can be setup around the playfield and turn off the Wiimote when the player dies.
last but not less important...for electronic guyz check this and tell me if can be used to amplify signal to the 100 meters...

i dont think you would be able to use a amplifier to boost the range, you would need to make a pcb and mount that ic also the track shape/size of the rf in/out needs to be very accurate to get it to work well, too much effort.
It would be easier to put a antenna on it, some bluetooth dongles have the ports already on pcb to do this. |
