why not make it so you have a laser pointer and hit the wiimote in the sensor. the laser pointer should give off a lot of ir if its red, and then its just a game where the wiimote turns off, and everyone gets a different sound for being hit. All you need is a ref to count the scores

I believe lasers are monochromatic, meaningit emits em radiation on an extremelly narrow band, so if you can see it it woudl be very unlikelly it is emitting infra-red radiation, but I dunno if the sensor on the wiimote are only restricted to infrared emissions
also this would probably make it very hard to hit someone, most of the so called "laser tags" are actually based on infrared leds with lenses to focuse them to a narrower focus, but nothing close to the narrowness of a laser beam the laser you see firing from some of them are actually just cosmetic, they aren't really used to check the aim , and also those games usually have big sensors on the vests people use meaning that even if lasers are actualyl used the area one must hit iss way biger than the tiny ir camera on the tip of the wiimote that people will be moving around (and don''t forget the small fov of the ir camera on the wiimote) _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!

| Is the wiimote a smart device? Or is it fully controlled over BT? What i mean is, is there a microcontroller we can tap into? So that the PC isnt necessary. |

so there isn't any flashable chip inside the wiimote? _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!

There's some onboard flash memory for saving data, but you can't run programs on the remote. No microprocessor (besides the accelerometer and the chip for handling Bluetooth communication... afaik, we can't do anything with these). _________________ Cha0s |

Wrong, the BCM2042 chip in the Wiimote contains an 8051 processor with RAM and ROM. And at least parts of the firmware for this chip are loaded from the 16kb EEPROM chip in the Wiimote and can therefor be replaced.
The problem is that it's not that easy to replace the firmware in the EEPROM - there is currently no known way of replacing that firmware without opening the Wiimote. |
