| I do realize that, but why are they being shown here? Did they use teh gamecube version to discover the trick and find it in the wii version or something? THe GC version could have had an AR used with it to change the text or crash it, so while teh wii specific images look VERY convincing, and I do belvie this is real, the gamecube ones are giving me a bit of doubt. |

AR has been disabled with one of the newer system updates. _________________ wiiuse C wiimote library - http://wiiuse.net/ |

This interests me, is there any way to use this exploit to run backup Wii Discs? I'm not suggesting piracy but my brother absolutely destroyed my Wii Sports and Wii Play discs and I'd like to use backup discs.
Anyway, this is great, this is our first real step towards Linux on the Wii.
Can someone please explain to me how exactly I'd be able to access this exploit? I can provide a savegame .bin if needed.

Right now you can't, this post was just stating that it has been done. The code for it has been released, but to use it you need your Wii encryption keys, something only the tweezer guys have obtained independently.
This exploit has only been able to execute four lines of code, but segher (I think that's his name) wants to get to the point of writing a bootloader. If he were to release a bootloader then homebrew would actually be viable. Right now it isn't.. _________________ wiiuse C wiimote library - http://wiiuse.net/ |

| Could Red Steel have this same thing going on? I went to the store the other day to buy it and they told me it was recalled. They did not know why. |

| So, someone please explain this to me? It seems as though anyone could go into a Wii and change a few bytes in a saved game and cause the Wii to crash like shown in the images. I believe that inserting valid code to jump execution to a homebrew app is what we'd need to insert into the saved game, yes? Causing a game to crash is not necessarally enough - don't they need to demonstrate the ability to insert code (hello world or other) into the saved game, which means figuring out the encryption scheme and re-encrypting the saved game with the 'patch' inside? I seriously doubt that the Wii is executing code that's saved in the saved game code, but I could see where the Game may barf if given some bad data in a saved game. I just can't put the two together. Can someone explain this to me? |
