I got a new Wii. Hooked it up. All was fine. However, my Wii console will NOT read the Wii Sports disc that came with it. It reads (and plays) Monkey Ball fine. I have done all the available updates. The disc is not scratched or chipped/broken. Am I missing something here? What's the deal? Any ideas?

Did you put it in the wrong way round?

Nope, the disc was definitely the right way in the console. I tried 2 other games, and they both worked. I'm sort of at a loss here on what to do.

Is it possible that I actually got a bad Wii Sports disc from Nintendo?

It is possible. Try it in an other Wii? And if it works, maybe you could switch discs with someone (assuming their disc worked in yours).

Yea, I already have something lined up. A friend of mine has a Wii too, we are going to swap discs and see what happens.

My Wii Sports disc doesn't look damaged at all. I just don't understand it. Aren't these things stamped? How could there possibly be a bad disc?

Does anyone know (assuming it's the disc) if I can send just the disc back to Nintendo, and not the entire console?

I didn't try my friends disc yet.

However, I called Nintendo and they are sending me a free replacement disc. No need to even send them my bad disc. Nice to know Nintendo is taking good care of the customer.

Now I gotta wait 3-8 business days. Sad

Hi..I had the same problem yesterday...did the replacement disc work out?

Curiously...the first time we usee the sports disc it worked fine...Then we palyed Zelda and when we tried the wii sports disc again, we got the error message that you got. Called Nintendo and they're sending a replacement.

Cannot for the life of me figure out how the disc got corrupted. Clean, no scratches...

His friend's sports disc worked ok when we tried it on our system..

Weird stuff..

..and one dissapointed kid!
