This news story has been posted officially at the Nintendo website and at the E3 media briefing:
Introducing Wii MotionPlus, Nintendo's upcoming accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote
http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/eMMuRj_N6vntHPDycCJAKWhEO9zBvyPH
INVENSENSE™ IDG-600 MOTION SENSING SOLUTION SHOWCASED IN NINTENDO'S NEW Wii MotionPlus ACCESSORY
http://www.invensense.com/news/071508.html
This is good news for gamers who have complained about the impreciseness of the Wii remote in games, and others looking to adapt the device with GlovePIE.
EDIT: 2 Nov 08
I found a more comprehensive article about the WiiMotionPlus here

Thanks.

| I hope that gets integrated with whatever wii drivers are out now. If used correctly I think we would only need to use the sensor bar as a starting point, or a sort of dead zone for the wiimote. |

I know it's not out yet, but does anyone care to guess if we can use our current HID device interface code with MotionPlus enhanced WiiMote's? Or will it most likely be a new whole data report and initialization sequence? _________________ Robert Oschler

It's an extension to the Wii Remote, so it should integrate just fine. I expect it will be very simple to obtain data from the device. As for using it for gesture recognition, etc... well, that might be a bit harder. _________________ Cha0s |

Cha0s,
Thanks. Why would it be harder? Wouldn't it be easier since it's giving more data and more precise data? _________________ Robert Oschler

Gesture recognition is just hard. It won't be harder than it was before (it'll probably be about the same). But it's harder than just getting the data. _________________ Cha0s |
