| if you know of any sniffers for older pocket PCs I'd do it, but if there aren't any, I can't... |

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that your computer is the one asking for authentication:
| Code: | | [19:43:24.379] [HCIc] HC and Baseband Commands OGF - Write_Authentication_Enable - Enabled | If that's the case then it seems like it would also be possible to connect without encryption. Unfortunately if the wii supports it then it probably uses it, which would make packets sniffing more difficult. |

I was finally able to find a wiimote tonight.
I brought it home and, after resolving an obnoxious driver conflict, got it to connect to my Windows PC.
It shows up, as I think people have mentioned, as an HID game controller with no axes or buttons.
After I finish studying for an exam tomorrow, I'm going to break out the Auditor knoppix-based distribution and see what I can find out.
Packet sniffing is definitely the way to go. If it uses encryption, then, obviously, our first task should be to crack that encryption. Has bluetooth encryption BEEN cracked? I'd assume so, but anyone who could link me any information they can find on the topic would be instantly awesome in my book.
The next step should be to figure out how to fool the remote into thinking its connected to a wii (shouldn't be too hard if we can get the packet sequence that happens during wii-remote hookup). Thirdly, we'd need to figure out how to activate the accelerometers (if that activation isn't part of the wii/remote pairing procedure). Then, its just a matter of a driver.
Unless someone beats me to it (which they probably will) I intend to write both linux and windows drivers.
Soooo....anyone know how to break the encryption and/or activate the accelerometers? |

|
|
| I am currently developing a wiimote HID driver for windows 2000/xp. I will release the driver along with the source code within a few weeks. I have a working test application, but it is not yet very usable (it only records raw data received via the HID interface from the wiimote). I will make sure and keep everyone updated through this forum. |

Excellent! If you don't mind me asking, what would be involved, or do you know what would be involved, in implementing mouse control with the HID?
[EDIT]
To clarify....so that I don't sound like a total idiot....
I'm aware that, technically, mice are Human Interface Devices... However, Windows registers the wiimote as a game controller...thus the context of my question.
I'm in the process of learning as much as I can as quickly as I can about USB driver programming for this purpose (not that it wouldn't be good to know, anyway), but it looks like you're several steps (leaps, really) ahead of me. |
