I'll be very surprised if the Wii isn't locked down tighter than all-get-out. This makes me think it's highly unlikely that the Wii will just boot some random disk and let you go to town. All the same, I'm excited for this project and its goals. Sign me up for the Beta!

I wouldn't say Nintendo has a history of anti-piracy measures. Their protection historically lay in quirky proprietary media formats. I don't think they're worried too much about piracy, anyway, as they tend to aim more at children and families (people with scruples) than hardcore gamers (those who would pawn the gold out of grandma's teeth.)

Well I'm buying a Wii so that I don't have to take teeth gold to pay for it. But regardless nintendo will have some protection on the discs it's just a smart move.

I am sure there will be protection, but all protection can be broken.

Since Dreamcast they'd never make protection that loose.

Nintendo isn't worried about piracy. They will have SOME measures, and with upgradable firmware, it will be hard to keep up with them. |
