Hi guys,
I'm new here and I want to make a good impression with everybody. So hello, and I hope to have many fun times with all of you. Ok, here's my question. I was cleaning out my room and I found this web cam. I plugged it into my computer and I installed the drivers and it worked right away. I would like to know if I can use my web cam as an IR Sensor for the wiimote because I really don't feel like spending $250 dollars on the system. Please advise.
Thank you so much,
Jordan
P.S. Here's to a new member. |

| Does your webcam emit IR somehow? If not, then no. |

it can sense me moving, there's a tab in the program that detects my motion, if that helps.

The camera on the tip of the Wiimote can only detect IR light sources. The Wii sensor bar has two of these IR lights built into it, it doesn't actually "sense" anything. When the Wiimote sees these IR light sources, it's able to approximate where you're pointing your Wiimote in relation to the TV screen.

Sadly, no, it does not help.
Sensor bar is not a sensor at all, it's a source for Infra Red light (IR).
You can use many things (remote control from your tv, some white light lamps and even candles), but your webcam... well you can use it in Skype with your friends or something, but has nothing to do with the wiimote.
Maybe you can biuld it... Link
Maybe you can have a go at reading the wiki or some of the forum threads to help you, and please read before you post, some people don't like being asked this kind of question, for "Sensor Bar" being not a sensor is more or less common knowledge around here.
EDIT: LOL, TylerK beat me to it _________________ Not all mexicans enjoy tamales and piñatas, and tacos aren't really made that way!

Does it really? Then maybe it will work. You have to test it though, but my guess is that it will. _________________ Not all mexicans enjoy tamales and piñatas, and tacos aren't really made that way!
