I'm not sure if this is news to you guys or not because I spend so little time on this site, but....
Nintendo just made a move that completely eliminates all needs for Wii hacks to run home brew.
God bless Nintendo. _________________ "If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside." ~Robert X. Cringely |

Well homebrew is still a good feature, as people can release *Free* games (as opposed to going through nintendo)
doesnt help linux though, how are we supposed to distrobute source code? no way nintendo will go for that |

Only thing i can think of is a poorly written/overly complicated program that can be exploited to boot custom code, which nintendo could update/disable ASAP via wifi if they wanted too |

A pretty poorly named thread on the behalf of the person who created it. Is he saying that indie games on Wii is a bad idea?
How about some reasons as to why this is detrimental to Wii homebrew? _________________ Evil Avatar |

| Uh, I am sure that we wouldnt have to pay for it. As long as the TOOLS are free, it would be expected that we could compile and run our code on our wii's without paying for it, or you have no way to see if your code works. As a result, we could just distribute source files and compile it ourselves |

| The issue is, this is completely under nintendos control- some things that we might want to see on the console like emulators, video players, etc are unlikely to be allowed. Having said that, this, especially if free or cheap, makes the value of the wii increase fantastically |
