Please could someone explain me what "picup lines" are? 
I'm not english but I'm normally not bad but I have no idea what this means. I have never read it somewhere (sorry if this is damn stupid question). |

Pickup lines are phrases that "supposedly" will help you getting to talk to a girl (or guy, it depends on your gender/preference, but mostly girl). That's the kind of thing some people need to get close to a prospect, and there's quite a variety of them. A simple example is "What's a classy girl like you doing in a place like this?" (which is quite cliché, and swampfox smartly modified it to be an ironic remark).
EDIT: It's not a stupid question, for the term is used in casual conversations, which are not very common in english classes

A "pick up lines" is a something one says in order to "pick up" one of their preferred sex. So, if I wanted to go out with a girl, I might use a pick up line. They are intended to make the other person interested enough to start talking to you, with the hope that it will lead somewhere further (eg. a relationship).
However, generally pick up lines are really bad and crude. People often say them as jokes. They also involve ways in which you can put your arms around the person and stuff.
