The law was written primarily for use in Australia, and in a time when digital distribution of data was not as common. I don't think it's a stretch to say that the notion that you can't discriminate against people of a given national origin includes the notion that you can't discriminate against a nation as a whole. While the law was written primarily for intra-national relations, because Carl Kenner is a resident of Australia, I think any product he distributes would fall under Australian law, regardless of whether the distribution is solely for Australia.
Furthermore, how would Carl Kenner even enforce the license? He can't sue Israelis through Australian courts, so he'd have to sue them in Israeli courts. I personally find it doubtful that an Israeli court would actually uphold his license (it's most likely illegal under Israeli law as well). The only international court that would have jurisdiction would be the World Court (International Court of Justice), but individuals are not allowed to bring cases to the ICJ. Australia would have to bring a case against Israel, and for some reason, I doubt that the Australian government would care enough to do this. In short, regardless of whether or not the license is legal, there is no way for Carl Kenner to enforce it, and so in effect, it is meaningless. _________________ Cha0s |

I doubt he intends to enforce it. Rather, it's meant to be symbolic. It's a representation of his political views. Whether or not his software license is the place to express said views, that's up to Carl and the users. |

| Good on old CK. How has he coded his software to not allow it to be run in Israel? I think small non violent protests to things you believe in are perfectly acceptable |

My take on this is that he should open source the code. As it stands now, glovepie is a dead-end when it comes to further the general understanding of the wiimote and there is no way for others to improve the program. All users a pretty much left on their own.
Obviously, putting the code under a free licence is currently impossible due to the Israel clause. But there may of cource be other personal (and legal) reasons for his secrecy in this matter. |

I wonder why there haven't been any open-source project with similar capabilitie to GlovePIE.... :/ _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!
