I'm with Marco. Although I don't really agree with the ban or the licence, it's Carl's program, and he has the right to do whatever he wants with it. All this petition and whining about his licence is gonna achieve is stop his support to Wiili. Even if GlovePIE doesn't make it to Wiili because it's for Windows/closed source/whatever, Carl has helped a lot in understanding the Wiimote, and his program has opened a lot of possibilites on the PC.

By the way, I doubt Wiili will make it with only opensource stuff. Nothing against opensource, I don't personally use Linux but use a bunch of opensource programs, as well as trying to use the opensource alternative when possible, though I don't have a problem with programs being closed source. But there is some stuff that's propietary, for example codecs for mp3s, dvds, as well as other stuff that's pretty common nowadays. Some distros come with them, some distros don't, the user can download them if he wants, but Wiili being a LiveCD, that would be kind of complicated. Well, just saying, hehehe.

And Carl, thanks, even though I don't have a Wii yet I'm really having fun with the Wiimote and GlovePIE.

Cool

I don't really want to fan the flames either, but since Carl decided to bring his uneducated views here, I feel the need to try and bring some reality here.

First, Carl, if you are reading this, I commend you for all of the work you have done on GlovePIE, and respect your right to have your software licence the way you want it. You can put whatever you damn well please in your licence.

However, you should know that your view on the Isreal/Palestine are really off base. I don't know how you came about the view that Isreal was bad for doing what they did, but I guarantee it is because you do not understand the situation. I'm not going to go into why this is so, and how terrorists from palestine have forced Isreal into the position that they are now all in, that has been laid out many times before. I can only ask, as you are obviously a intelligent person to have written such fine software, to go back and look at the history with a unbiased eye.

I can only hope that you will not just dimiss it because "you already know".

P.S I have absolutely no affiliation with either side here. I'm just a scientist in search of real truth.

Exactly how I feel.

The ban is no different than a licensing agreement that says, "no people of African descent may use this program." His license ASSUMES (and we know assuming does....) that all the people of Israel agree with everything the government has done.

This is beyond the fact that, based off the license, he has absolutely no clue what the situation is.

People, it's not a racist licensing agreement. He's not stating "every individual who lives in this region are evil". It's "I am personally against what the goverment of this country is doing". Yes the citizens are being punished for what the government has done, but this is pretty much always the case.

Read through the license (it's actually just the top two paragraphs or so, you don't have to read 10 pages of 8 point text) and make a decision for yourselves. I'm getting a serious "me too" vibe here from a lot of the posts.

And I would suggest that if you disagree you don't use his software, and if you have the ability to do so...write your own. Release it under your favorite license and go on about your life feeling good because you've given something to the community.
