Would it be possible to have a PC communicate with the Wii as if it's a Wiimote? This way we could:
Tweak Wii game controls (to use analog stick in Super Monkey Ball, for example)
Record/replay game sessions in certain games
Use a PC mouse, or other PC peripherals as a Wiimote substitute (keyboard)
Directly transfer Miis to and from the PC |

Yea, there is a program that you can run back uped/bootleg games on you computer by plugging in a cable from your wii to your pc. (note: If your interested in doing that you will need a modchip.) _________________ Check out my collection of my wii script's

I don't think that's quite what he meant. I think he meant that we'd have the Wii communicate with the computer as if it were a Wii Remote, and then the computer would communicate with the Wii Remote as well, so we could then modifier commands in between. This would allow us to change controls, as he said. However, I think there'd be a lot of overheard. Not to mention, it would be a huge pain. _________________ Cha0s |

Yeah, Cha0s, that's what I'm getting at.
The Wiimote would be talking with the PC, and the PC would be talking with the Wii. The PC would run a program which would interpret the Wiimote's actions, make custom changes, and spit it all back out to the Wii.
For example, if you'd rather use the Nunchuk's analog stick to control Super Monkey Ball, you would link the analog stick's X and Y values to what the Wiimote's Pitch and Roll would be. As you move the analog stick, the PC tells the Wii that you're actually tilting the Wiimote.
The program could also take PC joysticks, mice, and keyboards and interpret their actions into Wiimote actions. Another example: For a keyboard, each key would be linked to the appropriate IR sensor values (for where they are located on the screen) and an A button press. To set this up, it could "record" you while you point at each key on the TV screen.
There's no doubt it would be a huge undertaking, including just getting the PC to communicate with a Wii. But if the Wii is going to be around for 4 or 5 years, I'm thinking that's enough time for some coder out there to figure it out. And if that happens, I'll be there to test it. |

Wii or Wii Remote? They're totally different things, you know. _________________ Cha0s |

That's an interesting idea... however you would only be able to use your computer as a Wiimote, yes?
As for recording videos and such, you can just get a decent TV tuner card. It would be neat though to integrate the Wii into the computer... I doubt it'll happen though (at least not the hardware. I can see an emulator happening). _________________ I like cream soda...
