howdy
i got a veryveryvery basic question (i tried looking for the answer but couldnt find it on the forums)
anyway... ive been thinking about how the original sensor bar is sometimes inaccurate and too short range on, so my question is, how can you improve this (yes i mean permanent improvement not just conditions in the room). for example if building your own to improve accuracy and max range
cuz my problem is when im at a friends house that we gotta stand 2 far from tv and then sometimes the mote signal is very bad from time to time and also ive noticed while playing certain games that i would like the aim to be slightly less trembling
i have no experience in building stuff whatsoever so if there is some company that has started to make and sell a improved version of the sensor (or something else that catches the signal) then i'd like to buy one, although if there isnt i would like it if someone could describe how to improve the bar or build one that is infact (somewhat) much better (i got friends who are good with these stuff, but i preffer if i didnt have to bother em)
wireless or not does not matter, i prefer cable due to batteries but dont mind wireless
and yeah im a noob if you didnt notice
edit: i know about the build your own topic, but i need to know about a improved bar not just homemade
edit2: decided to summarise the problem, retail sensor is 2 inaccurate and short ranged, i also want the sensor to be movable so object putting the old one on is pretty much out of the question, power requirement is not an issue as long as it got a cable which i can plug into the wall or something, current sensor has about 2-3meter as MAX range and i would like to have something more like 2-3 and still have full performance: im thinking about 5m as highest thinkable range (more then that wouldnt be used but, sure its always nice) although prolly 2-4m would be the distance normaly used

you're saying you need to be too far away or too close? (also, you know the sensor bar itself doesn't "catch" anything, right?) _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!
phpBB doesnt like me,somtimes it will forget to warn me about new replies to threads I asked it to,if you see a thread I should have responded, could please email me? |

| the problem is that if i move like 2-3meter from the tv the mote starts jumping randomly, also sometimes there is a delay and the not to uncommon, fast motions dont even get noticed |

| Can you move the bar somewhere closer to where you like to use the wiimote from? You can try the wireless "hack" that allows you to hook a 9volt battery to the stock bar without actually moding it. That way, you can try moving the bar somewhere closer to where you play from. |

that would have to be putting it on the floor, and then the reception is totaly off (tried it) cuz the 2-3meter is a max distance.. past that the cursor dont even work so i would then also not fit a table between us and the tv, thus why im intrested in having longer range, also as i said before... as its now i would like to improve accuracy aswell because certain games (zelda for one) have their "moments" where the cursor either got delay or sometimes even jumping randomly across screen (night and day)
edit: just adding that it IS playable but im intrested in paying for the "more"
edit2: also adding that the wireless suggestion might work but that still has the problem of accuracy which is the most important issue |

If I were you, I'd use a nice cardboard box that was just the perfect height not to block the TV but still sit the bar on in a usable way, and just fold/put the box away when not playing.
If you are building a new bar and want to increase the [effective/accurate] range of the bar, there are only 3 ways.
1.) Increase the number of LEDs in each "cluster" and therefore the power demand also goes up.
2.) Increase the power so that the bulbs burn brighter and therefore shorten their normal lifespan.
3.) Buy bigger, better, brighter burning bulbs. Again, the power demand is more than before.
Increasing the power demand obviously means you're going to have to use something besides the Wii as your power source (wall socket or battery pack).
Still, it might be fun to build your own super-bar. As Tim Taylor would say, "More power! *Grunt-grunt-grunt*!". (okay, that was just stupid.) |

yeah thx that was exactly what i had in mind, a wall socket used would most likely be best way for me cuz i got problem carrying a giant box during the 1h drive it is for me to get to my friend
if there is someone who is experienced enough to do this and wanna help out (through guiding me through it), that would be awsome (as long as its wired the ammount of energy is not really a issue, unless its some super spotlight that require 10000 volt or something )
any help on building this myself will be very appritiated(spelling!?), such as what parts to buy thats recommended and everything |
