Hey, I'm making a sensor bar for my computer so i can play pc games with my wiimote. I have a 4xAA battery holder (6 volts) and 2 ILEDs (1.2 volts each). For some reason when i hook up a circuit with the 2 LEDs the lights dont come on. (i get that it's infrared, and that i cant see it, but nothing shows up on my digital camera. same goes for when i try to look at it with my wiimote in the wii settings> sensor bar> sensitivity screen, that shows infrared lights)

anyways im wondering if i put too many batteries for just 2.4 volts of power needed, or maybe doing that shorted out the LEDs? Should i go buy 3 more to match the voltages?

Yeah, I think you've killed your IR LEDs. You definitely need a current limiting resistor to prevent them dying. Type the voltage source, LED voltage, and LED current (it'll either be on the LED packaging or the site you bought them from) into this site, and it'll tell you what value resistor you need and how to wire it all up.
You'll also need some new LEDs.

Well first off you can probably get away with using something like a couple of 60 ohm resistors.

The other thing you might want to check is the polarity of the LEDs. Make sure you have them hooked up right as they are diodes and do not work when you have them reverse biased.
