| i haven't read the entire thread (sorry) but what about using an existing script-language that's embeddable, like python (great language), or lua (extremely easy to build into your application). there's many reasons to using something like lua, for example it means most problems you might run in to when making a parser already have been solved. also there's already documentation on the language in questions, and lots of features are already implemented. thoughts? |

Weird that you guys are using Java... aren't there better libraries for C and such? I mean, the current problem with WiiRemoteJ is the fact that you need to do all that Avetana jazz, whereas GlovePIE works out of the box when you have BlueSoleil installed. Unless I'm wrong and Avetana is only required for compiling the OpenPIE app itself.
Either way, if you are coding this in Java I'd love to get involved in any way possible. I'm not an awesome coder or anything yet but practice makes perfect y'know.
A guide telling me how to get WiiRemoteJ working and compiling in the first place would be much appreciated. _________________ Java Coder... oh god...

mmm... I thought OpenPIE would be like GlovePIE on that area, using the OS drivers to read the data, but now you asked this I'm not sure, I have the faint memory of stuff like a bluetooth stack being planned to be builtin opie, but I don't trust my memory all that much.... _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!

Right now unless some major change occurs, It should have the same system requirements as WiiRemoteJ. That's part of the reason we chose to do it in java.
That Avetana thing sure is troublesome (and hard to compile) but I think I heard that this may change in a later version of WiiRemoteJ |

For Windows users, BlueCove with the BlueSoleil or WIDCOMM stack works just fine now! For Linux, there's Avetana (open-source for Linux) with BlueZ stack. For Mac users... well, Mac users have to buy Avetana. _________________ Cha0s |
