I seem to have got it working...here's what I did
Right click page>Edit site preferences>Network>then set Browser identification as 'Identify as Internet Explorer'
It all seems to be running smoothly now |

I finally decided to switch to Firefox to see updates and see if there was a reason the forums weren't working... glad I found this (I'm on Opera now...) defrex: changing the character encoding doesn't work, but setting it to identify as internet explorer does.
[edit]This really needs to be fixed... can't visit the forums with Opera for the Wii. |
