Will there be any accounting of where and how the donations are being spent? It would be nice to know that they are actually going towards development of wiili, and not simply towards purchase of a ps3 or something
Also, now that you have such a fancy dedicated server which has way more power and bandwidth than is needed for wiili, I would suggest giving out free hosting to others involved in homebrew and/or linux development. This wont cost you anything (as you have way more space/cpu/bandwidth than you need), will get you good will, and help out those that deserve it.
Good luck! |

| As an addendum: Could you please turn off the obnoxious ads on every single forum page? How about just put them on the main forum page, and not every single post. I don't think putting it on every single post will get you any more clicks. How is it that other sites (gbadev.org, dev-scene.com), which have more users, can manage to survive without annoying ads everywhere? |

The donations are mainly to support 1 year of hosting, not only the server for now ; that uses most of the money. For the rest, it helps Tuxido to buy some tech books he needs.
The ads helps the site to survive ; it's an addition to the donations. A lot of people are coming from links elsewhere in the wiki or other pages ; they see only the topic, not the main page.
No ad => no click => no money => no project.
The ads were made to help the site to survive, not to annoy you. If you don't want to help us, so ignore them and install Adblock+. _________________ Sorry for bad english...

I consider the ads harmless as it is simple Google and Amazon ads. Now if it were annoying flashing "your computer is infected" banner ads I'd use Adblock and kill them. As I've stated though, the existing ads are non-intrusive in manner and maybe I'll see something from Amazon that I might want to buy (like a Wii component cable dag nab it). _________________ http://www.eviltechmonkey.com |
