it should be possible to build somthing like that, perhaps somthing like a board supported by 4 think hard rubber "foots" on each corner and somthing to hold the wiimote under/inside of it, as people shift their weight the wiimote would tilt and roll slightly, and it would also allow the detection of jumps since when the person would jump all the rubber feet would be compressed down resulting in some vertical acceleration of the wiimote _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!

Building that would, however, not be a feature of openpie but a whole different project all together.

I think it would be interesting to have OpenPIE as an API that people could write their own wrappers on any language they want that can handle APIs _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!

I just got an email with some interesting things, let me know what you think about it:
| Quote: | I know it might be a little late to make a feature request for OpenPIE, since the last post in the feature request forum thread is 4 months old, but if you're still taking requests, these things would be good to have. I didn't feel like doing this through the forums because I don't like registering for forums just to make one post. I'm looking at this from the point of view of a biomedical engineering student, and I see the Wii gaining popularity among rehabilitation engineers and physical therapists. I see the Wii remote as being very useful in a laboratory setting, so it would be good to implement features in OpenPIE that would make it suitable for use in a laboratory. Also, When I use GlovePIE to make scripts, I never touch the GUI tab. That feature is useless to me, though it is great for those with no programming knowledge. I like GlovePIE because I can write code for it instead of just mapping buttons to keys. I hope you aren't neglecting this feature in favor of the GUI. Both are important.
These features include:
MATLAB-style matrix syntax -- My biggest complaint about GlovePIE is that it is unclear how to use matrices in the code. It would be nice to have a simple, straightforward syntax for matrices. In MATLAB, matrices are defined by enclosing them in square brackets. The elements of each row are listed separated by commas, and then a semicolon is placed at the end of each row to move to the next row. This feature would be good because sometimes it makes math easier to deal with the Wii remote's rotation matrix, rather than its pitch/roll angles.
File I/O and network communication -- These features are in GlovePIE; keep them in OpenPIE. File I/O is important for laboratory use, and network communication is good for making a software KVM switch.
Digital filtering functions -- It would be nice to have an easy way to lowpass-filter data from controllers to get a smoothed signal.
Support for devices other than the Wii remote -- GlovePIE is great because it is so versatile. I would hate to see it degrade to become just a Wii remote driver. I use it to map inputs from a keyboard, mouse, Wii remote, and Bluetooth-enabled cell phone.
Speech recognition -- I just started messing with this feature in GlovePIE, and it's kinda cool.
Run on startup -- Run OpenPIE and load a specified script on startup.
Custom GUI creation -- I'm not talking about the GUI-based programming mode. I mean that OpenPIE code should have functions to create dialog boxes (or new tabs in the OpenPIE interface) with buttons, sliders, and graphs. This would aid in controller calibration.
Every feature that is already available in GlovePIE -- GlovePIE is a great program with a lot of great features. I hope that OpenPIE will offer the same level of functionality. |

This one interests me. I feel that processing the motion data could help us recognise certain kinds of movement more reliably. Adding a filter as he suggested is a good start. Perhaps we could support things like dynamic processing (compression\limiting, noise gating, etc) to further simplify the motion data.
These features paired with a live graph of the wave could make a sweet testing environment. I think it would make gesture recognition more feasible for us little guys who don't have the fancy dev-kits. This is all hypothetical of course. |

| Having a termination symbol for all "single line" statements so i can string an equation across multiple lines to make it a tad readible and not have the compiler complain at me. Something akin to how the symobles "{", "}", and ";" work in Java/C/C++/Perl/C#/etc. |
