|
|
Hi, I thought I would start a new thread to discuss trying to interface with the extra controllers (classic and nunchuck). I picked up a classic controller just a little while ago, and the behavior is rather peculiar.
Attempt #1: Wiimote already connected to hidd.
Starting with the Wiimote already talking to hidd, I plug the classic controller into the bottom and receive the following packet:
| Code: |
20 00 00 02 00 00 86
|
At this point, pushing buttons on the Wiimote or the classic controller does not generate any packets! If I unplug the classic controller, I see this packet:
| Code: |
20 00 00 00 00 00 84
|
The buttons on the Wiimote still don't do anything though. In fact, I can't get the controller to respond to anything, or reconnect it to hidd, until I pull the batteries. I can repeatedly insert and remove the classic controller and get the above packets, though the last byte varies between 84, 85, and 86, with no pattern I can yet discern.
Attempt #2: Start with Wiimote off, classic controller already connected.
If I start with the Wiimote off, plug in the classic controller, then connect to hidd, I receive the HID packets when I push buttons on the Wiimote, just as before. However, none of the buttons or analog sticks on the classic controller issue any packets. Next I remove the classic controller, and I see the removal packet mentioned above (now the last byte is 83), and the Wiimote is locked up again.
I'm starting to think that before you can use the classic controller, some sort of initialization needs to be done.
(Random aside: The classic controller has these two slots on the back with a spring-loaded latch inside to grab onto something. On top is a mechanical button to release the mechanism. Anyone know what you are supposed to attach the controller to?) |

| For the clips on the back of the Classic controller, i've searched around and no one has confirmed yet what they are used for. It doesnt even mention the clips on the instructions for it. I've tried giving Nintendo a call to ask what they are for, but it says their line is busy. I'll try calling back later and seeing if i can get an answer from them. |

The Nunchuk sends back 63 for the last byte. I'm guessing it's a controller type byte (with some undefs for the Classic it seems, since it's not 100% constant).
a1 20 00 00 02 00 00 63
Also, resetting the report data mode (use the command to deactivate motion as explained in the Wiki) should bring the reports back after a plug/unplug event. |
