that's odd - verify that one of the files listed above (/dev/.../uinput) exist after running 'sudo modprobe uinput'.
better yet - post the output of 'find /dev -name uinput' after running modprobe - perhaps uinput is in an odd location. _________________ "I seldom let practicality get in the way of my fascination with shiny things and blinky lights."

| 'find /dev -name uinput' returns '/dev/input/uinput', and there is a file there now. |

Try running 'sudo modprobe uinput' and 'sudo wminput' again - verify /dev/input/uinput exists before the second command. If it can't be opened as root....weird... _________________ "I seldom let practicality get in the way of my fascination with shiny things and blinky lights."

| It works! I don't know what did it, since I'm pretty sure I tried all those commands before, but it connects to the remote now using the default settings. I figured out how to map the buttons, but is there any way to either use the classic controller, or use GlovePIE under Wine in conjunction with CWiid? |

I didn't specify earlier, but modules loaded with modprobe will only be around until the next restart, so if you restarted before running wminput, you would need to reload uinput. There is probably some ubuntu specific way to do this on startup if you don't want to load it manually every time.
I'm not sure why you'd want to run both GlovePIE and CWiid - they both do pretty much the same thing, don't they?
wminput classic controller support will be in the next version of CWiid. Things are going well, so I'm hoping for this weekend for a pre-release, but don't hold me to that. _________________ "I seldom let practicality get in the way of my fascination with shiny things and blinky lights."

I just was thinking of using GlovePIE for classic controller support - I thought there might be some way to pass the button codes on to GlovePIE and let it handle them.
Also, will there be joystick support in the new version? That's another reason I would use GlovePIE. |
