Hello

I am trying to test out this VERY COOl library and have hitting a snag. Wondering if anyone else has fought thru similar issues.

I have a Trendnet 101UB dongle using BlueSoleil Version 2.3.

I am trying to run the WRLImpl test class, but am having trouble with the various JSR 82 libraries.

What JSR 82 implementations have folks used successfully on Windows?

Bluecove doesnt work, I cant get the Windows Aventana(sp?) library to work either.

MANY Thanks!

Avetana requires the WIDCOMM stack. There's probably a WIDCOMM driver for your dongle, but it is possible that there isn't. Try Google and see what you come up with.

OK. I tried the BlueSoleil version of Widcomm, to no avail. From my poking around, it looks like connection on Windows is going to be about impossible, due to the lack of L2CAP profile support in JSR82 implementations (that run on Windows).

This is not at all the case. Avetana provides L2CAP support and runs just fine with a WIDCOMM stack. BlueSoleil is the stack (therefore you can't use it). Try to find a WIDCOMM stack for your dongle. Once you've found a WIDCOMM stack (make sure it's compatible with your dongle!), remove BlueSoleil from your computer (you can use Windows Software Removal) and install the WIDCOMM stack. Everything should work just fine from there.

Well, true. I think the trick is finding a working WIDCOMM driver for my dongle. Seems to be the problem for most people, I've found an old one on my manufacturer's site, but it doesn't work either.

Sorry if I come across frustrated; I am. The point is, I installed BlueZ, avetana's open source driver, and BAM I can do JSR82 development (using with the L2CAP profile).

It bothers me that its so difficult to do the same on a Windows box. The M/S stack doesn't support L2CAP, other JSR82 impls dont support it thru other drivers; the exception being aventana/widcomm.But good luck finding a WIDCOMM driver if your dongle doesnt come with one.

I have good news for you. Apparently BlueCove now supports L2CAP. Trying using it instead of Avetana. It should also work with BlueSoleil!

I'll have to check it out again. The version I grabbed from the google code website last week did not. Is the change in the subversion code or a nightly build?

Anyhoo, I got WiRemoteJ working on Ubuntu 6.06. What a sweet library. Nicely done and I look forward to working with it more. Oh, the possibilities....
