After reading all this I may have to build a sensor bar too. I just got my wii Monday and I was seeing how the aiming worked and found that, my bar at least, is the center of the aiming. i.e if I want to point to the top half of my TV I have to aim the controller over the sensor bar. So I guess when I build mine I am going to make two separate clusters that will attach to the center of each side of my monitor/tv. Maybe like this ...
Code:

 __________
 |        |
 |        |
0|        |0
 |        |
 |________|

0 = LED //|\

Also I was thinking of powering it off the 12V line from my power supply, just because I have some extra molex connectors and wire, and it will allow me to use as many LEDs as possible Laughing

depending on the size of your monitor the leds might be too far apart

oh, and even thought the wiki article I made on how to make a sb didn't mention resistors, it is advisable to use them to avoid burning your leds

There are lots of replica bars on ebay, my question is would it be possible to take the adapter off and replace it with either USB or a Serial Connector?what about a USB lead that has 2 connectors for providing extra power? Though serial is the most interesting to me, as i have a serial port on the computer i will be using thats never going to be used for anything, would it be technically possible? and what would i need to do? not asking for mych i know Wink

Hi guys, I just made a USB sensor bar using 6 IR LEDs. I have the circuit up on my blog, which I'll post very soon as soon as I'm considered a legit user. Razz

if you do it first in a program with fixed width text, and when posting you put it between code tags, it shudl be easier to have it all look as intended Smile
