Long Answer: Even getting Linux to function on the Wii will require extensive modifications to its code. In other words, special drivers, and a kernel loading system will need to be created and specially tuned. This process will be hard, but it would be a hundred thousand times harder, if not humanly impossible, without access to the source code. But even if we had Microsoft's cooperation, they're going to have a hell of a time getting their code to function on the PPC. It's just not a very robust, platform independant piece of software. Microsoft knows this, otherwise they would have released NT for the PPC, rather than bailing out on the process. And then, on top of that, once Windows in on the Wii and functioning properly, it STILL won't be compatable with Windows programs! /ALL/ Windows software is built specially and completly dependant on the intel CPU. They would have to be recompiled and released as a special version. (Linux will have the same problem, but most of its software is distributed in source code form.)
Short answer: NO |

Well, I suggest we run two optional versions. Both Linux, but one would run something like KDE as a window manager (definitely should be KDE, matches the Wiis style). The other could run something like IceWM, not only a nice lightweight Window manager, but also can be configured to look just like Windows XP. I've done on my PC and fooled friends till I opened Konqueror. To do this we would look into something like lookXP. Its a project devoted to simply making Linux look like windows. Why would we do this? Well one, its noob friendly for those who have never used Linux. Two, its a great way to make it less scary to Windows users. And three, because we can. Though mind you we should still have a main version running KDE. Ah Wii and KDE, think of the possibilities. _________________ "If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside." ~Robert X.
