nintendo probably will not be happy with linux people trying to do something that boots on Wii and was recorded from internet by a simple reason
if you can boot Linux, you can boot illegal stuffies,so probably after some discussion,a weird scenario that i can see is simple:
nintendo offer to put the linux on the Virtual Console stuff :3
this way,it can be open,it can be free and will not scratch their disc protection scheme
i can even go somewhat further and they like... allow it to run,but do some restrictions like locking 2 mb of ram to not allow you to run pirated Wii/GCN games on the Linux stuffie, but still have enough ram to do linux fun |

I'm concerned that they're not going to like this as a free alternative to a dev-kit (or a $250 dev-kit anyway). Granted, it's not going to be nearly as good as a full-fledged dev-kit but they did say they would be supporting the independent game development community and might not want there to be more than the option they offer to be available.
I'm only excited about this to be able to program games using the wii-mote and Nintendo has proven Nazi about what it officially allows on their systems before (all console manufacturers are).
Let be prepared for hellfire should they not be interested in supporting this themselves. *cross fingers* |

the official stuffs costs around 2000 dollars
but this include a the hardware, the salary of the programmers, licenses of the official game dev stuff
i donīt think that nintendo is getting the license money from here :3
well, this may be other reason why nintendo would propose to put it on virtual console
because if itīs stuck there, you canīt do a DVD game with it as the dvd will be dependent of the Linux :3 |

| No, the dev kit price only includes hardware and licensing. Salaries are way more than that. |

I don't think Nintendo will care.. They don't care if we do DS Homebrew. And if we mess up out Wiis its not their problem. Even if they do have a problem, they will make it so we void out warranty if we use it. _________________ www.the-media-vault.com |

Yep they don't really care for the homebrew but they do care
about piracy, the bad thing here is that due to this hombrew is also
affected. |
