hey everyone, im really gettin myself in a muddle here, so a hand would be much appreciated. Im sure that most of the solutions are already on these forums, and i can find some, but still im having issues, so if anyone could just link me, or just give me some info it would be much appreciated.
Right the problem. Like everyone else i wanna connect my wii remote to my computer, and so far i seem to be getting all of the standard problems, but getting round them is proving more complex than it should.
My laptop is brand new (dunno if that will have an effect, ie its on xp, may not have installed all the updates yet......) and has bluetooth built in, and on searching devices it finds the wiimote and connects fine. Problem one, on watching the data transfer i can see that pushing buttons is be transfered, but no motion is being detected.
2, only one bite of info has been sent to the controller, i figured this was fine at 1st, but realised that the flashing led's were staying on, so i think im gettin the cant talk to the wiimote problem, and so hence cant recieve motion info. (i dunno, that part really confused me!)
3, cos its built in bluetooth i cant easily remove the device and change drivers. Plus the drivers are already installed. I downloaded Bluesoleil, and after being used on 2 different laptops one with a dongle and mine with the built in, i could not get it to recognise me bluetooth adapters. I found a guide on these forums, but again i jst got more confused! I believe they both used widdcom drivers too...........
4. after lookin at various guides one mentioned about installing the wiimote as a bluetooth joystick device, but despite my efforts i could not get windows to promt me to do this, this could be down to me not gettin bluesoliel to work. although i figured the bluetooth software im currently using shuold do just as good a job.
5. glovepie does nothing, but i think thats due to all of the above!
Im pulling my hair out here! it seems somethings dont work cos others dont and ive got myself into some sort of nasty cycle, which is just confusing me, and now im so lost i dont know what to do next! So a point in the right dircection would be such a help. Thanks.
Oh and, whats bluestack? i have a vague idea...... and does the infrared come into play at any point? is it nessesary to pick up motion?
Thanks. |

Well, I'm not really the right person to help you with all this but I can answer some questions and hopefully it'll help. The flashing lights is good because it means the computer is connected to the wiimote. What I do to make it stop flashing is open glove pie, go to the gui, click detect output and just type some random key on the keyboard, click detect input and press a on the wiimote or something. At this point the lights stop flashing because the wiimote has started to receive/send commands and such. I wouldn't worry about the number of transferred bits and stuff because I don't think the motion sensing starts until the wiimote receives the command to start uploading the data i.e. you probably shouldn't worry about that. As for the IR stuff, they aren't necessary at all unless you want to actually use the wiimote as a pointing device.
If the glovepie gui doesnt detect the inputs from the wiimote, I don't think I can really help you but you should still try a couple things. There's a long guide of what to try if you have this problem somewhere in the forums but I don't remember exactly where that is so here's some of the stuff you should try:
Stop the connection completely, remove the batteries from the wiimote, unplug your bluetooth device (i realize you can't do this in your case but if you wanted to try it on another computer), exit all the related programs such as glovepie and bluesoleil, replug everything including the batteries, restart bluesoleil and glovepie and make sure you follow the bluesoleil instructions carefully. I wasn't following the exactly correct procedure in bluesoleil when I first got it. Here's what you should be doing.
Start bluesoleil, single click the orange ball, press 1 and 2 on the wiimote (the red button in the back seemed to cause problems for me), double click the RVLT icon, wait a bit, single click the mouse icon at the top of the window and you should be good to go. Then of course start glovepie gui, etc.
Good luck |

| hey cheers for the heads up, after a bit of tweaking and mainly thanks to dr zoidberg and his blue soleil hack ive managed to get it working. Glove pie seems a bit glitchy, but ill try and get around that. Also it seems to hate being used as a mouse in FPS games, jerks abuot all over the place! But for what i wanna use it for its great. Thanks |
