Is there really anyone that thinks the sensor bar is still the receiving end? Sounds like any IR emitting device might work. From Christmas lights to candles.

What I would like to see is some one to cut a string of lights down to 4 bulbs and use it as a good sensor bar. It looks like the only reason it was jumpy is the 4 light rule. It could be a cheap and easy hack for those in need of a sensor bar.

Anyone know why there's only four trackable and the rest of the points get thrown away?

The other points are probably lost because of a lack of signal strength. Since it is detecting the IR the distance from the WiiMote to a non specfic IR source is important. Since the X-mas lights aren't focused the way the IR LEDs in the sensor bar are most of the signal is getting lost (Shot to the walls, celing, etc.)

I think it is the handler in the sensor. there is a SOC between the wiimote electronics and the camera that converts the camera picture to processable data before being handled by Wii.
