Tear it apart, take the leds, and build your own! LOL
Well, seriously, I think you should try and build your own. It's not THAT hard, and if you don't trash any of your parents' stuff, you may even have fun while at it, and learn some basics in electronics.

The WiiRemote only tracks four IR lights at once. If there are more than four, it will rapidly switch between them. In other words, if you have more than four lights, it isn't going to work very... _________________ Cha0s |

You could still use eight, right? If you make four sources, each one with two leds, it should still work, am I right? _________________ Not all mexicans enjoy tamales and piñatas, and tacos aren't really made that way!

Using 8 dots won't help you. It will only complicate your IR script.
You can try, but less is more in this case. You can point just fine with 2-4 dots, so why bother, right?
In fact, I have a table lamp that works as a sensor bar. Using it to point on a real Wii works really well. This goes to show you that you don't need some massive array of leds to make it work.
BTW if you do build an 8 led sensor bar, don't expect every IR script to work with it because they likely aren't prepared to handle all that data. |

If the 8 are aligned correctly (i.e. grouped together in pairs or quartets) then it should work fine. The Wii Sensor bar technically has 10 lights, though they're all grouped together and angled somewhat, so the remote only reads them as 2. _________________ Cha0s |

@luis_villase
nope, they're equally spaced between each other in two rows, so it wouldn't work
@swedish_frog
I thought that the wiimote only recognizes up to 4 dots? |
