If the IR's are close they'll act like one, but this is not the case here... But you can still use it if you cover all but two.
Your setup would be something like this eh? Where X = one IR source
There shall be 15-20cm between the sources, chose something that suits your need, far -> more separate... Since you havnt revealed the distance between the lights on your parents "thing" its hard to exactly say what to do, but if the distance between two sources is about 5-6cm, simply do like this:
where X = untouched source, O = covered source(using whatever). |

@yijie:
Yeah, it only supports 4 points of light (dots).
As chaos pointed out, multiple leds can be mounted close to each other at an angle to effectively become one dot. This is done to make reading the dot possible from wider angles (ie when you don't face the tv head on) |

Thanks for your help, but i found a simpler solution.
There was an unused remote control lying around, and i just taped the button and it works with wiinremote! I thought the wiimote needs 2 of them? |

nah, dependant on the IR algorithm or script, one led can work just fine. I refer you to my previous post where I mentioned a lamp I own that works well as a sensor bar. It's effectively one big dot.
Have you tried your makeshift sensor bar on any Glovepie IR scripts? Do they work ok?
does the cursor flicker it you use it on the wii? |

So the wiimote can recognize four different LED spots?
So would it be best to put an LED at each corner of my screen? Or put one at each top corner and one on each side about halfway down? |

no, it'd be best if your sensor bar matched nintendo's as closely as possible in terms of where the leds are placed.
This is because some code performs calibrations based on the relative distances of the dots.
So basically if someone wrote IR code for a normal sensor bar, and you try the script with your wacky SB with dots all over the place, it's likely to become glitchy, dependant on the script of course. |
