But if Nintendo simply changed the keys in the future, the hackers could simply re-read them again, and keep a list of all keys. And then detect what keys your current Wii is using and apply that key.

With this exploit and full hardware support, I'm predicting that we'll have external hard drive support (via USB) to play our backups, without disc swapping! Can't wait. Wii Homebrew!

i thougt the keys are hardware encrypted??? but if nintendo change the keys many many games won't work any more and that will hit nintendo more than a wii which is able to play homebrew, which even can be good for the wii

Ya, they are hardware encoded. And older games wouldn't work if they changed the hardware key in next gen consoles, UNLESS the new consoles had TWO hardware keys (one to support older games).

But I'm just really saying any efforts by Nintendo to change the keys in future consoles seem futile, as it would take very little effort to learn the new keys too. But hey, I don't know much about encryption keys at all. Do they look anything like my car keys?

that would have no effect because the older keys is still active then... Smile so there is still access to the hardware. soo no problem

considering the size of the community, the amount feedback advances in this area get, now that most of the clues to solve the puzzle are already out there, shouldn't this be moving way faster than it seems to be right now?

(well, when it comes to actually cracking new stuff, I'm mostly a noob, probably underestimating what it takes, dunno.....)

That's the way it feels to me--also a noob. If you heard the applause on the video, that crowd Instantly understood the implications of what they were seeing. Sounded like they'd been waiting for that for a while.
