| I tried building a sensor bar plug but I was using a piece of plastic and soldering metal plates to it, but I ended up melting the plastic and I couldn't get it to work. If I can find some rubber, this sounds like a good idea, maybe there's a way to build an outside shell to hold the plug in without tape. |

| hey I do alarm systems and I was wondering, I have a boatload of 12v 4.5amp/h and 7amp/h is there any reason why this would be too much voltage? |

The Wii provides approximately 7.5V to the sensor bar. Powering it off 9V seems to work, but it is drawing too much current and the LEDs are having to dissipate that additional current as heat.
If you provide 12V then you will be drawing a larger current. You can see the circuit diagrams for the stock sensor bar in my diary thread.
Applying Ohm's law (V=IR), you can calculate that the 5 LEDs on each side would drop 1.25V each, totalling 6.25V. This leaves 5.75V over the 22 ohm current limiting resistor (on each side) making the current 261mA. This is a lot of current for the LEDs to dissipate! They might even go pop. the total current drawn would be over 0.5A and I'm not sure how well even the wire would cope with that.[/quote] |

I think you would need to add more resistors (or perhaps another type of componen that will use up energy of the circuit, perhaps a bunch of power indicator leds, or a small fan (are there any that will not need too much energy and will not mess up the circuity in some other way?) or even some incadescent lightbulbs perhaps, dunno) _________________ please put the scripts on the wiki so they dont get lost as new stuff is posted!
